  • Great place, but for tourists! What's great is that takes the real as payment, which was hard to find in the rest of the city. The food is good and the service was excellent in the restaurant. A tip: Monday weren't all kiosks/restaurant open!

  • If you like to get to know the city walking you can go to the Plaza de la Independencia, take the street to the Market Sarandi. In this way you can see the Cathedral, the square Zambala, Brazilian coffee. (40 min approx). On the market there are several restaurants that make barbecues. Worth it for lunch there. The tortillas serves 2 people. Chivitos too. Only if you inform about the types of meats offered as gizzard and intestine of an ox is often a delicacy in the country. (morron, chinchulin). The chimichurri sauce they serve is delicious but spicy.

  • The Mercado del Puerto gathers several restaurants and the focus is on the barbecue. I ate at El Palenque and really enjoyed it. The building is of 1868 and the year of 1975 was declared national historic monument.

  • A very interesting place with a number of restaurants cooking lots of meat. Smells great, costs a lot. The empanada place has great selection and very cheap prices.
  • Very nice place to eat local food, and especially parillas. A lot of souvenir shops are located next to the market.
  • Beautiful place, delicious Uruguayan food.
  • The food at most restaurants is great. A bit too pricey though. Also what's with charging for the silverware!
  • Full of many parrillas, this is a great place to experience the feel of the Montevideo meat culture.
