Iglesia de las Carmelitas, Montevideo
(4.7/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web)
Admire the Neo-Gothic architecture of Iglesia de las Carmelitas, an impressive 20th-century place of worship. Constructed between 1929 and 1954 and designed by architects Guillermo Armas and Alberico Isola, the church takes clear influence from across the Atlantic, with Notre Dame of Paris its obvious inspiration. Inside, impressive woodcarvings and a large nave continue the visual impression and artistry of the Gothic exterior. • The Church is too far away from other locations. My advice is to put it in the script of the Legislative Palace. But I think just worth it but to have nothing left to go visit. It is interesting, but the time taken to get there, it's a lot. Has a beautiful facade. inside is interesting, quite different. Was closed, but was open to us, because we had called ahead. It's not a very visited place, but if you are around, it doesn't cost anything, but recommend calling first to know if you're going to be open.

  • It is, along with the Cathedral, one of the Catholic churches more beautiful than Montevideo. Located in the El Prado neighborhood, is a must ride to be able to say that it met the city.

  • Definitely one of the churches most beautiful and oldest in the city, is totally worth visiting it. Tip for cholulos, the actor Keanu Reeves was here to celebrate the wedding of his friend the director Carl Rinsch with a Uruguayan.

  • Beautiful temple close to the standing neo-Gothic style. It is widely used for marriages but it also has a very active parish community.

  • Gothic style, is the work of the architects a. Isola and g. weapons. Dates from 1929. One of the most beautiful churches of the city of Montevideo, surrounded by meadow, the Botanic Gardens and the grounds of la Rural.
