We can only visit this attraction on the outside. We arrived when was shutting down access to the fortress, still it was worth the walk. A 360° vision of Montevideo. Observe your Lighthouse which was the first lighthouse of the Río de la Plata. Location yielding beautiful pictures. Note the opening hours: Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 at 4:00 pm.

The location in an area of difficult access and a most popular neighborhood. We can not visit it because it was closed for maintenance.

Place a little distant and little signaled, but the landscape compensates the difficulties. In addition to the military museum, the view of Montevideo is the differential.

This fortress sits on a high mount and has great historical facts about the independence of Uruguay. Expect to find swords, canons, firearms and the clothes used by the soldiers who gave their lives to defend their country. Huge frames depict with great details the chilling horrors of the wars that the country endured since it's independence. The neighborhood looks a bit intimidating by the way. It's a must see.

The best view of Montevideo. The suburb around it is somewhat scary and has a very bad reputation for public safety. If it didn't, it would be the most expensive area of the city due to its setting and architecture.
