  • If you are a tourist, one of those who likes to really get to know the locals already prepared for this type of visitor, may not like the experience. Is a large outdoor fair that sells everything from vegetables to clothes and antique trinkets. Is the ideal stop to feel the spirit of the city. In some ways, Tristán looks very similar to the "brics" portalegrenses, mainly the redemption, which is the most traditional. One final bit of advice: stay tuned to PICKPOCKETS! They tried to rip us off twice while we were there and that spoiled the atmosphere of the place. Do not forget that, despite being still in Montevideo is Latin America.

Where to stay in Montevideo

Montevideo's central neighborhoods offer plenty of hostels for budget-minded travelers, as well as a good selection of mid-range hotels for visitors looking for a bit more space and privacy. Luxury rooms are harder to come by, especially if you arrive without a reservation. If you want to indulge your every desire, your best bet is the waterfront area, where you can find four- and five-star hotels offering all the modern amenities you need, including complimentary bicycles and car rental services.
