Estadio Campeón del Siglo is a football stadium located in Bañados de Carrasco, Montevideo, Uruguay, and the home ground of Peñarol, current First Division champions. It has a maximum capacity of 40,000.The stadium is built with all FIFA standards taken into account, plus the possibility of a reform and an expansion in mind; thought of as possible host for a proposed 2030 FIFA World Cup by Uruguay.HistoryBackgroundProjects to own a stadium date back to the 20th century, but never managed to materialize. Although the club already owned the Estadio Contador Damiani (former Las Acacias) since 1916, it is currently not approved for Uruguayan Primera División matches by authorities, due to lack of security, and it is used by the club's youth divisions instead. The first project dates back to 1933, when the team presented a project to build a stadium near Montevideo's promenade, same place in which now the popular Teatro de Verano is found. Half a century later, in 1998, the club announced plans, presenting a real life model, of a stadium to be built in the Franklin D. Roosevelt park near Avenida Gianattassio, in Canelones. On the successive years, under the command of club president José Pedro Damiani, continuous projects were presented, which all planned for a 40 thousand seat stadium.

We were able to watch a game (friendly) at the stadium and it was fantastic! Very organized, easy access, free parking, good facilities ... Despite being a little distant from the central area, it was a great experience! However we found the website a little confusing and not very clear information and timetables for visits, were it not for the game, probably we wouldn't know the stadium.

I went to watch a football match. First get to the Stadium from the center of montevideo is exceedingly difficult by the shortage of urban transport, and the taxis charge too expensive until the stadium. Once in the stadium, we entered by the visitor gallery, where closed us the door and the local partiality we attacked with stones and bottles. A stadium ready for mistreating people. Worst hospitality that touched me to live, and no one takes responsibility. An embarrassment of stadium, an embarrassment of bias, and a shame of the city.

From the moment you enter already starts to breathe that the village is there. Very good acoustics, continue to be renovated to have seats in all grandstands. Without a doubt the best stadium of the Uruguay by far, and with FIFA regulations.

This is the 1st world class stadium build in Uruguay since we build the estadio "Centenario" in 1930 opening the same on july 18th 1930 to celebrate 100 years of the declaration of the independence. Since then this is the FIRST and only other stadium capable of hosting a fifa or world class event. Or fruit of the biggest and oldest team in URUGUAY. C.A.P.O. C.C.R.R.U.C. 1891. Best thing ever.
