El Prado, Montevideo

#2 of 13 in Parks in Montevideo
The city's largest public park, El Prado serves as a quiet green space and gathering place away from the bustle of the capital. Spread out over 106 hectares (262 acres), the park plays home to more than 1,000 species of plants, several gardens, and a range of pergolas, monuments, statues, and other landmarks. Go for a stroll through its expansive grounds, following the bank of the Miquelete Creek surrounded by palm trees and other native foliage. Bring a picnic to enjoy a meal in the great outdoors, or simply kick back and watch locals go by. Make El Prado a part of your Montevideo vacation plans using our Montevideo day trip planning app .

  • I am Montevideo, always lived in this city, and although I like this neighborhood, I put in the position of a tourist coming for 2 or 3 days, and I don't think it is sensible to recommend a visit, unless the stay of at least 7 days. The district itself has no foodservice in quantity and quality that warrant a visit during any day and time, and the park itself also has great attraction for the mass audience. For those tourists who have a lot of time, I admit that I like some of its tree-lined streets and old houses, which can be enjoyable on a warm late autumn. The bus tour of the city runs through this area, so I suggest who feel curious about this area take it and see with their own eyes what little has the neighborhood is of interest.

  • Place where I run every day, where you see people strolling, drinking mate, philosophizing, walking, trying to understand... beautiful sunsets and lush vegetation, games for kids... I love.

  • Place to recreate the view with beautiful buildings among which stands out the Presidential Palace, as well as the rose garden, or varied vegetation... very nice area with the botanical garden worthy of visit, as well as the rural or simply take a few mates low the trees...

  • Great place to eat some beef
  • No foods are expensive and the environment is not bad, but only accept Visa payments and still in debt. There is no indication that do not accept any other card or informing this restriction. A shame that a place like this is so bad only for this problem. You're a tourist, don't come here.

  • Very small goat with many chips. Service was fast. The best live music in a master guitarist. The issue of cards is serious. Normal Hall.
