  • Amazing this place. It is worth to visit it is a crypt dating from 1900. It is located under the nave of the Church of San Francisco. It has been built by the architect Víctor Rabú and opened in 1870. It is undefined style because displays romantic structures with means of expression Greco-Roman. On the facade I can tell you that it has 3 arches and a large rose window that illuminates the nave. The Tower completed in needle is the element mas medievalist and was one of the highest points of Montevideo. The crypt has a separate entrance.

  • The crypt doesn't open till Friday, so we were lucky to find it open, while the Church was closed. It was, in fact, a real find. The crypt is very simple, full of Saints, candles, prayers and many faithful. It's a place with darkness, lit only by candles, but that shows the faith and simplicity of the people. Looks abandoned, but that simplicity is touching, as well as many messages of prayers and requests the Lord of patience on the walls. And in the background a song and a silence in the middle of the capital.
