Where to stay in Montevideo

Montevideo's central neighborhoods offer plenty of hostels for budget-minded travelers, as well as a good selection of mid-range hotels for visitors looking for a bit more space and privacy. Luxury rooms are harder to come by, especially if you arrive without a reservation. If you want to indulge your every desire, your best bet is the waterfront area, where you can find four- and five-star hotels offering all the modern amenities you need, including complimentary bicycles and car rental services.

  • Very beautiful cemetery, "graves" are beautiful, very well made statues. Who goes to Montevideo cannot fail to meet.

  • From the historical point of view, it is the most relevant. There is the national pantheon where lie many former Presidents and many of the most important politicians, writers, painters and artists. The majority of the patrician families, prominent professional and prosperous merchants of the Uruguay of the 19TH and 20TH centuries is there.

  • Ancient cemetery, with a staff of 1800 and little buried. Worth knowing by sculptures, military names and all the back story. Has a sinister black cat who lives there. We went in the morning and was deserted. It's not scary.
