Castillo Pittamiglio, Montevideo
(4.2/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Admire an impressive Modernist landmark, cultural center, and museum at Castillo Pittamiglio, home of architect Humberto Pittamiglio from 1910 until his death in 1966. The building's design was an ongoing process intentionally left unfinished when Pittamiglio died. Consider the symbolism of the curious sculptures curling around the main building, and take a tour of the interior to see oddly shaped rooms, doors that lead to nothing, and interesting color and material choices. The life of the architect remains the source of much mystery, and the museum addresses several rumors that surround the man and his work. • I did a tour that was sensational! In addition to knowing the life of this architect, I started to understand a little more about Alchemy. The interior of the building is very exciting, as there are stairs to nowhere and secret passages. All very Rico in symbolism. Cheap! Good for all ages. To the Holy Pope John Paul II was there on their visit to Uruguay!

  • Castillo Pittamiglio is hidden in the rambla. For being a small construction, almost swallowed by other buildings, one must pay attention, or if you think the attraction. But it is very nice, especially!!

  • You can visit it with your kids and take the tour to know about the architect and the building. Takes around 30 mins. That´s all. Many hidden diagrams and references to Mason´s people.
