Castillo Pittamiglio, Montevideo

(4.2/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Admire an impressive Modernist landmark, cultural center, and museum at Castillo Pittamiglio, home of architect Humberto Pittamiglio from 1910 until his death in 1966. The building's design was an ongoing process intentionally left unfinished when Pittamiglio died. Consider the symbolism of the curious sculptures curling around the main building, and take a tour of the interior to see oddly shaped rooms, doors that lead to nothing, and interesting color and material choices. The life of the architect remains the source of much mystery, and the museum addresses several rumors that surround the man and his work. • Worth it, at least once, take the Pittamiglio, without a doubt, is an enigmatic place and remains as a witness from another era, between the modern buildings. It is recommended to perform the guided tour, to learn about the history of the place and its creator.

  • It has various activities that make it more picturesque also represents a very particular construction

  • Iconic, Cabalistic, odd work of a lonely architect of Italian origin and refers in particular work and Uruguayan public. The work of a man of power, power, high material wealth and thought "almost dark" where the awesome initiation, the symbolic and the surprising make us travel until a recent past.

  • You can visit it with your kids and take the tour to know about the architect and the building. Takes around 30 mins. That´s all. Many hidden diagrams and references to Mason´s people.
