  • The Arequita Hill is on private property, and to visit it, engages a guided tour given by the owner of the complex at the price of 200 pesos. The man in question is a clear example of the saying "good intentions is the road to hell paved" since, in his enthusiasm, he becomes a visit interesting in an absolute heap of nonsense. The first part of the route is interesting: don Gustavo speaks what you know (geography, geology, natural environment) and does so with grace and interest. The problem comes when the man gets into eleven staff shirts, mixed Dan Brown with anthropology and just releasing Pearl as "the Templars" (a religious order dissolved in the middle of the 14th century in Europe) are met in the grotto of yore. Hence, costs down and no brakes: "psicogeneticos" bridges, crazy theories about how the charrúas poor would have built (if built: away, neither more nor less) Cave, questionable interpretations as a minimum of a possible human use of the Grotto in question .. .all without a single scientific proof: there are no archaeological remains, material culture or paintings that can even give a minimum rise to theories of a man with too much free time and a poor understanding of the history and anthropology. No mistake, however: visit worthwhile, but it is a pity that the heritage of Uruguay is disseminated so bad and so little scientific way: If only the Ministry of education and culture take the matter to, at least, avoid that hundreds of people will be Yan convinced that delusions as facts that took place really.

  • Very nice place, the ascent and descent is easy. Ideal for the whole family. Not be in rainy days or with plenty of sunshine for obvious reasons. But is an easy Hill for people who even is not accustomed to hiking.

  • Located only 12 klmts of the city of mines with mulpiples access roads. Its amplitude just exceed the 300 meters away the waters coming down from the Hill form a lagoon and give origin to the Santa Lucia River on both margins camping areas there are very difrutables in summer. At the foot of the hill there is a clustering of ombues which is the second by its number in the country. There are two caves where bats live in its flattened Summit. All mount this surrounded by an indigenous monte partly very thick at the bottom there is a parador. Only you can visit caves Saturdays Sundays or holidays from 8 to 18

Where to stay in Minas

With Minas' touristic emphasis far more on the surrounding natural areas than on the town itself, accommodations tend to be pretty basic in the town. While a couple of luxury and upmarket options exist--with hotels offering private pools, onsite bars, and restaurants—hotels primarily feature simple rooms with limited amenities. Truly budget-friendly options lie tucked away in the side streets around the central area, with hostels and guesthouses chief among these. North of the city, really adventurous types may want to check out some of the region's most scenic campsites. Alternatively, explore the smattering of family-run guesthouses in remote areas.
