  • Excellent visit to the post of the Chuy 12 km from Melo. It was a former coaching inn for travelers who moved in proceedings between Melo and Villa Artigas (now Río Branco). Here charged toll for passing the bridge over the arroyo Chuy the Tacuarí, being the first concession of public works which took place in the Uruguay. Built in 1855 by two French Basque surname Etcheverry, Masons by profession, the solid building constructed with sandstones United without mortar, like the bridge with pockets that is accessed, due to its characteristics is considered an architectural piece unique in sudamerica.1 currently is barred the passage of vehicles over the bridge. It has been declared a national historic landmark. One of the drivers of its restoration was the historian Horacio Arredondo.
