Ex Frigorífico Anglo, Fray Bentos
(4.5/5 based on 90+ reviews on the web)
Step back in time to the World Heritage-listed Fray Bentos factory, which now houses Ex Frigorífico Anglo. The factory first opened in 1873 and produced canned corned beef for the new brand. Revolutionary in its production of meat sourcing, processing, packing, and dispatching, the factory put the sleepy town on the map for its role as the "world's kitchen," providing food to soldiers during World War I. A guided tour will lead you through the entire production process of the preserved factory. • Fray Bentos is a small town in the interior of Uruguay, known for the Anglo refrigerator, be greater input from Argentina by the international bridge. It is a long city "of"pointing the Uruguay River. Reach the Anglo is not easy, is necessary to go through the entire city in the longitudinal direction, until you reach the River, there go the rambla costanera, continue along a bridge and there we will have entered the historic anglo district. It will be hand right the River, passing through the Anglo Athletic Club (football) and old houses on the left. The tour of the Museum is interesting, the children will have fun with the two-headed calf head, adults will see the giant that was the food industry, seek their surnames in the huge list of names of all parts of the world who worked there, you will see tools used and the infinity of manufactured products packaging labels, to take the industrial vastness dimension. Anyway, the dimension can be seen doing the guided tour through the interior of the refrigerator. Here is when one manages to feel on cold walls, in the lines by which cattle, moved in the ancient tiles worn, what had once been the Anglo to Fray Bentos, Uruguay. I recommend making this journey.
