  • We stopped at Fray Bentos and went during the day. The place is beautiful, great view, clean, good infrastructure facilities (toilets, showers, kiosks). It has on-street parking. Being of river, it has no waves and 20 meters in can be depth does not exceed 50 cm. Ideal for travelling with children.

  • Beyond the love that unites me with this city (Fray Bentos) decided to write because I believe that it should be known by many people who want to enjoy a holiday of peace. The balneario Las Cañas is located a few km from the city of Fray Bentos. It can be reached by the scenic route, bordering the River, passing through the Anglo (where also you can visit its Museum) and thus begin to explore memorable ways. Despite being small, Spa offers all the services needed for a relaxing holiday. The last time that I visited, was this weekend (November 25, 2017) and we enjoyed the beach, the Sun and the tranquility that offers. During your stay you can chill out at the campsite which is very large, with plenty of space, full of trees and with a highly complete to supply is open all year. The bathrooms have hot water, there are many camping and always are very clean. On the beach, there are trees so you can access the shadow in a natural way, the sand is very fine and River very calm, warm water, ideal for children since there is no danger. During the summer season, you can enjoy restaurants, bars and trade fair... In addition there are number of houses and apartments to rent.

  • Very picturesque, on the Uruguay River. On Saturday afternoon, which was hot, there were many people. There are areas with sand where you can swim, camping, houses to rent. A more cool than Fray Bentos. For my taste, many people if one looks for a quiet place. Equal worth knowing it.

Where to stay in Fray Bentos

Traditionally an industrial center rather than a touristic one, Fray Bentos has a limited range of accommodations. Head to the water's edge and you'll find a couple of nice hotels; move farther back from it and you'll stumble across a few simple guesthouses. This will no doubt change in coming years, with the listing of the old industrial factory as a World Heritage Site. Until then, consider looking in the neighboring towns of Las Canas and Mercedes for a wider selection of lodgings.
