Parque Anchorena, Colonia del Sacramento

(4.2/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Meander through the grounds of a presidential residence at Parque Anchorena. Designed by German landscape gardener and architect Hermann Botrich, the 1,369 hectare (3,383 acre) gardens display more than 200 tree and shrub species, including a pleasant variety of evergreen trees, first planted on the plot in 1908. Once the stomping ground of Argentine aristocrat and landowner Don Aaron de Anchorena, the park was donated to the Uruguayan state, and opened to the public in 1990. You can take a tour through the main house, which now serves as a presidential retreat. • Knowing the biography of Baron de Anchorena, we see a very special being who transcended his surroundings and lived intensely travelling the world and leaving a legacy that is particularly unique in the world.

  • The Park is closed until March and is not in that information on their website. We went down there and a local official informed us. A pity we missed the trip. One warning on the website.

  • Very appreciated place, the same story is very interesting, not only because it is home to break from the President of Uruguay, the tour is worthwhile, this well organized and very well maintained level, is a self-sustaining farm. I went on two occasions
