Museo Portugues, Colonia del Sacramento
(4.1/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Travel back to the colonial era at Museo Portugues, a small cultural heritage museum set in a charming 17th-century home. Central to the museum is the Portuguese colonial experience, exhibited through a range of artifacts that once belonged to original settlers. Particularly interesting is the collection of colonial-era maps, made at a time when European empire building and exploration sparked the golden age of cartography. Displays and dioramas help bring this period back to life, while information panels can provide additional insight into the area's history. • I take this which is the most popular of the city's museums to do a full review on the six museums are available with a single ticket, bought on any of them, because all are municipal and therefore the ticket only. I visited all six: each has its theme and are all very interesting and small, which allows for quick visits. Of course, the Portuguese Museum has the most interesting theme, because account, through the history of Cologne, almost the entire history of Uruguay. However, what I liked most was the Dr. Bautista Rebuffo, with collection of everyday pieces, period furniture and a few works of art donated by residents there.
