  • A pity, but the La Vineria de Colonia del Sacramento is closed. The place looks deserted and nothing is working.

  • As a lover of good wine I couldn't resist visiting La Vineria of colony. They have an interesting variety of labels from all over the world although obviously specialize and carry out about Uruguayan wines tasting. The tasting is quite comprehensive, and the pairing is successful. Consumption is paid and wines are tasted, accompanied by a delicious minced and empanadas. It is worth highlighting the hospitality and professionalism of Carolina and Martin are really excellent and create a climate that invites to stay...

  • *Excellent gems to taste* We attended a wine tasting last month at La Vinería. Apart from tasting great wines, Martin made the evening an experience as his passion and knowledge of fine wine and good food really shows. And even after attending a few wine tastings in the past I still learned something new about wine and winemaking. I am already planning the next trip, luckily it is just 1-hour boat ride away from BA. Martin presented most delicious wines from the finest wineries in Uruguay. For the whites he choose a fresh and crisp Sauvignon Blanc from Juan Carrau, perfect for a summer dinner. Followed by something new to me a Pinor Noir (blanc de noir) Chardonnay from Marichal Reserve Collection. I like Pinot Noir, but never had a white one before, this one has a golden-rosé tone and a very distinct flavor, a delicious mix of freshness and fruitiness with an almost woody hint - really loved that one. The reds we tasted were a Tannat from Arunguá and a Tannat Grand Reserve from Marichalt in Uruguay, a Petit Verdot from Pisano RPF, a fresh red wine, that I can imagine for a great asado. Delicious!
