Colonia del Sacramento Lighthouse, Colonia del Sacramento

4.4
Visit Colonia del Sacramento Lighthouse for a chance to look out over waters that have claimed countless ships over the centuries. The iconic lighthouse, overlooking the Rio de la Plata estuary, helped save many vessels navigating the savage currents in the black of night. First illuminated in 1857, the lighthouse remains in use today. Climb up its spiral stairs to enjoy the views over the harbor, and over the historic city. • We couldn't miss the opportunity to walk to the top of the tower even in the midday sun. What a great view once you are at the top. You really need to do all the quirky historical places in Colonia  more »
  • Super nice, which dates its history from the beginning of the 1800 when the eastern band, was under the disputes of Spanish and Portuguese. It is to go and stay a few days, look for a quiet place to stay. If you are Caro you can stay in the vicinity, there are cities and towns close with locomotion or rent motorbike or car or bicycle, that would be ideal. My recommendation: covers everything regards prices, question and question by sites (lots of variety) walk or bike the rambla, stay away from the weekend. Is full of tourists, it is difficult to stay and eat. Many Argentines and Europeans who sold him the trip from Buenos Aires. Ideal season November, February March April. You can come a few days to a Montevideo, pretty town and quiet. Walk the promenade is a pleasure, visit the shopping malls or places to eat plenty rich. Question to more than one villager where to eat rich and consistent price, and will tell you several places. Notes and runs.

  • When he met Del Sacramento Colony, be sure to visit the lighthouse. The entry if not mistaken is 30 pesos and entitles you to climb the stairs tight, that leads to the top of the lighthouse. From up there you can enjoy a beautiful landscape of the whole Colony and take lots of pictures! Show!

  • Hermosa vista desde el Faro, en el verano no es tan lindo subir como ir en otras epocas debido a que hay mucha gente arriba y no podes disfrutar verdaderamente de la vista y sacar fotos.
  • The entrance to the lighthouse costs 25 pesos per person, but it's worth it if you want to enjoy the stunning view of Colonia from the top.
  • Nice view of the town and of Buenos Aires' skyline
  • It offers a wonderful views of this peaceful and quiet town.
  • The lighthouse of Colonia del Sacremento offers incredible views to those who choose to climb it's steps to the top.

Where to stay in Colonia del Sacramento

In contrast to its quaint historical architecture, Colonia del Sacramento offers a range of multi-story, luxury accommodations. Most of these sit near the tip of the city's peninsula, with swimming pools and good beach access. If you want to stay in the old town itself, choose between a range of hostels, inns, and boutique hotels housed in buildings more in keeping with the city's colonial architecture. Make sure to reserve your accommodations in advance, especially if visiting on a weekend or during the busy summer season.
