Calle de los Suspiros, Colonia del Sacramento
(4.5/5 based on 2,400+ reviews on the web)
Roughly translated as the "Street of Sighs," the World Heritage-listed Calle de los Suspiros provides a glimpse into life during colonial times in Uruguay. Old houses sporting architectural features of centuries ago line the narrow pedestrian street, which allows strollers to feel like they're stepping into another time. Paved with stones and without sidewalks, the street remains linked to many bizarre local myths. One story claims criminals sentenced to death were left here to drown during high tide, while another tale says brothels once dotted the area, attracting lonesome sailors whose love sighs gave the street its whimsical name. • A little with a very special and very peculiar aspect. One of the streets of the most sought after by the charm that holds since its inception.

  • Sincerely, not is that see you all over the world to this... It is a street that the only thing that varies in the other is having other types of pavement (as did the Portuguese) as opposed to the type of Spanish stoned. Old houses give its share of beauty, but are nothing more than that, old houses. The only thing that is good is the story of because it is called "street of sighs", there are 2 versions, which makes me think that they are of dubious historical accuracy and that nothing more is a tale to cheat tourists and highlight a place which is more simple that one can imagine.

  • The street more emblematic of the place, it runs with great difficulty because of its ancient cobbled, but do what a treat!

  • To see me like a lack morals which does not give me my code for a free game, since I spend around $ 100.00 in games on steam, I do not blame the calla that sigh a lot if not the money that made me spend. -I wish I think and reflect-Att: Edgar: D
