Inspirock Rating:
4.1/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web
One of the highlights of the World Heritage-listed city center, Basilica De Santisimo Sacramento dates back to the 17th century, when the site was occupied by a more humble building made of mud. The pair of main towers possesses colonial-era rusticity, with the whitewashed walls adding much to this effect. The history of the church is detailed in the main building, while the neatly restored interior creates an atmosphere of contemplation and spirituality, harking back to the town's colonial past. • His time of firm materials born from a simple ranch of mud and straw, in founding times of Colonia del Sacramento, came as it is today, since many years. So many that it is considered the oldest temple in the country. Its current brilliance has no local consensus. Resplandese its interior of white walls without the side altars which had, what gives special highlight to the Blessed Sacrament located behind the main altar and the Center. A special detail coupled with the name of the city which was founded invoked it is and named Colonia del Santísimo Sacramento. There is a replica of our Lady of the thirty-three eastern, patroness of Uruguay among religious figurines.
