Visit Puente Giratorio, a picturesque moving swing bridge and an iconic part of Carmelo's image and history. The bridge features on most local postcards, and became synonymous with the city after its construction in early 20th century. The first of its kind in Uruguay, it also represents the first bridge operated entirely by humans when it needs to move. Hang around on the picturesque waterfront and you might get the chance to watch a ship pass under the bridge, causing a whole raft of movements to take place, with part of the bridge appearing to retreat into itself to allow the boat through. • We arrived from Tigre near Buenos Aires by boat and this was our first site in Uruguay. The bridge looks nice, but is nothing very special.
  • Fun and fashion line because only passes a car at a time ... and so you can see the city and take pictures.

  • Sometimes we come across reviews without better explanations end up "taking the free" of any attraction. The principle can be seen just as a bridge, but in addition to very pretty has a curiosity: for being historical heritage of Uruguay this bridge cannot suffer any changes and in that function when your drive is required it is done manually. An official of the City turns a wheel that makes fun of the bridge.
