Puente Giratorio, Carmelo

(3.7/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
Visit Puente Giratorio, a picturesque moving swing bridge and an iconic part of Carmelo's image and history. The bridge features on most local postcards, and became synonymous with the city after its construction in early 20th century. The first of its kind in Uruguay, it also represents the first bridge operated entirely by humans when it needs to move. Hang around on the picturesque waterfront and you might get the chance to watch a ship pass under the bridge, causing a whole raft of movements to take place, with part of the bridge appearing to retreat into itself to allow the boat through. • Would have loved to see how to turn to the passage of a vessel, but it gave. It is the obligatory for entering or exiting Carmelo.

  • not all the ancient bridges are cute, I think that this is in the right place. as the context makes it highlight its beauty. and pass 4 times to determe to see him. of course, you have to like the ancient bridges!

  • Nothing to see, is only a bridge which rotates to give way to boats, his visit can skip
