If you're willing to challenge yourself to walk up narrow paths and climb steep ridges at Zion National Park, you can reach Angel's Landing and be rewarded with a majestic view. The trail is considered extremely demanding--especially the final stage. The early part of the hike features plenty of pleasant photo opportunities. As the trail begins to get steeper, any crowds will thin out because most people turn back. Reaching the summit can be dangerous--especially so when wet or icy. It requires scaling some serious heights and using chains anchored in the rocks, so it's not for everyone. This final part of the climb is not intended for children. Angel's Landing Reviews
One of the best hikes in US (and maybe in the world) due to its beauty. Moderately strenuous, I would not call it too hard. 5 stars for natural beauty, 1-2 stars for organization, comes to about 3 tot... more »
Absolutely loved this hike. Really nice distance and difficulty for a complete novice but you still have to be fairly fit. Regardless, all ages and fitness levels were reaching the summit and it had t... more »
Angel's Landing is the iconic hike in Zion Canyon. So, lots of people along the trail, even in November. But, once you get to the Scout Lookout junction you have the option to escape most of the crowd... more »
Angel's Landing is probably the most famous hike in Zion National Park. This is a challenging 4-5 hour hike in the main canyon, which starts at The Grotto, ascends the west side of the canyon wall and provides incredible views back down into the canyon. We started the Angel's Landing hike first thing in the morning in order to avoid the larger crowds expected later on. The hike is a rather steep incline throughout. The famous switchback section is really neat and a fun place to experience. Upon reaching the top of the canyon wall, you have a bit of a break before having to scale and scramble the last and famous section of the trail. Here you need to use much caution and pay attention to what you are doing as the trail is very narrow at times and the drops on both sides are mind-bogglingly deep. If you make it to the end, you find yourself at the spot where angel's land! Views are incredible. Note: Even if you start early, space near the end of the trail is very limited so you will almost certainly be hiking behind and in front of numerous others, slowly making their way along the trail. Just be patient, be careful and take your time. Note: Not much shade on the trail so take a hat, apply enough sunscreen and do bring sufficient water with you as you will likely sweat quite a bit on this hike, even if the weather is cool outside. In the end, we loved the Angel's Landing trail. The entire experience was rewarding, memorable and a great way to burn a lot of calories. This is a hike we are still telling our friends about and one that we will be happy to try again in the future when visiting Zion National Park.
One of the best places I have visited. Things to do: 1. Camp in one of those campgrounds: Good campgrounds with all the facilities. Make sure you pack your food and keep it in the food storage. 2. Get pizza from the local pizzerias: They are really yummy 3. Walk through the narrows: You can rent water hiking equipment from the local stores or you can start walking normally. Water, sometimes, will reach hip height. Nothing to fear though. The experience is one of its kind. 4. Angels landing: Hike is beautiful and the views from the top are more beautiful 5. Zion valley view: This is the fist visiting point you'll get to when coming in the car. About a mile trail to get to this point. Absolutely breathtaking.
Paradise on earth! I love this hike! Doesn't take too much out of your day. It is best to start earlier in the day. Love the scenery! If you are scared of heights it might not be the best option. It is a very popular hike in the park but easy to work around people if it's a little busy. Fantastic photo stop!
like having sex with an alien. this is one of the coolest scariest thing you'll ever do, i recommend bringing a lot of water at least two bottles per person a few snacks and a sense of wonder. the last 0.5 mile is where the fun starts i was afraid of heights but not anymore.
DO ANGELS LANDING! I am terrified of heights but after I accomplished Walters Wiggles I had to continue. At first I was skeptical but 5 minutes into the climb I felt comfortable. It was not that bad, I was to concentrated on climbing/hiking to be nervous. The view was incredible, and the sense of accomplishment was overwhelming. As long as your not jumping around like a fool, you will be fine.
