Yosemite, Tunnel View, Yosemite National Park

Must see · Lookout · Tourist Spot
Take in the majesty of nature at Yosemite, Tunnel View, one of Yosemite Park's most iconic viewpoints. This site has drawn visitors, photographers, and artists since it opened in 1933. Those arriving by road must drive through a long, dark tunnel before emerging to see the breathtaking scenery, hence the viewpoint's name. A turn-out with ample parking enables you to stop for photographs of El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, and Half Dome. If you are feeling adventurous, you can embark on a hike up to Inspiration Point from here. • This is a fun area, to stop and enjoy the park. There were not a lot of visitors there while we were so it was nice not to have a crowd.  more »
  • Simply amazing, loved the views and oh such a photogenic place, especially while you enter the park. You get the best view.  more »
  • Entering the park in this route is a must stop for pictures of the whole valley west to east. Easy pull out. Very popular for camera folks. Hazy because of fires but a great photo stop  more »
  • This is probably the best view in the whole park that is readily accessible from right off the main road. There is a huge parking lot and the view is a minute's walk away. It gives you a beautiful breathtaking view right down the main valley of the park. Both sides show the nice granite mountains. A must stop if you are short on time!
  • Didn't wear my boots and ended up stepping on some Dirty Dan. We made the best of it though. Ended up partying in a stranger's Hatchback Subaru in the parking lot. So lit! No clowns shoes allowed. Had to toss Brain Train Tony out. We respected the earth so good. Like picked up things and made it look normal. That's the Hatchback policy. I'm hungry, will probably fish out a growler from my buddy's trousers later. Bring peace to 7-Eleven, I'm out.
  • Among the few places worth visiting in Yosemite in summer. Try to not drive all the way up to the tunnel point. Park your car somewhere and walk the rest. It will make your life way easier. You would not still see too much water from the falls since they are mostly dry in summer. I'd bet spring is going to be beautiful here.
  • The second you leave the tunnel be prepared to stop. Plan it. Get your shot, this is the nicest (easiest) way to view it all from a distance. Don't be bothered by people, they all want their shot. Don't waste time getting the perfect picture. Stop, take a few pictures and then stare out for awhile. A solid 3 minutes. Then do whatever else. But take time to see it with your own eyes and not the camera lens.
  • Pure divine !! Gods best creation .. amazing to be there and witness this amazing creativity ! Peaceful and serene .. loved it so much .
