  • The historic gateway to the oldest national park in the United States is worth a visit if you are anyway in the North of the Park.

  • The arch is the entrance to the north side of the park from Gardiner, it has a lot of history to it and you get some nice photos .  more »

  • Was neat to see with my own eyes after only seeing it in some old films with Model T's going Through it. Just outside the north entrance of the park in Gardiner Montana.
  • Historical entrance point where Teddy Roosevelt dedicated the park. It is the only entrance guaranteed to be open in the midst of winter.
  • We saw it actually on our way out which was beautiful, but if you can enter this direction, it will set the stage and the mood for the absolutely beauty you will see in Yellowstone.
  • This is just an arch, but it's part of our national history. There are few things that can bring all Americans, not to mention a whole lot of international visitors, together like these National Parks, and this was the first one. This majestic arch stands as tribute to a great man and President who helped to start the process. Of course, even this park predates Roosevelt's presidency, but it's a great reminder of his legacy.
  • Wonderful work in recent years has been done to this area to make it a wonderful attraction that feels a lot more interactive and highlighted as a monument rather than in years past when it seemed sort of forgotten though it is very iconic as the historic main entrance of the park back in the early days of the park.

Where to stay in Yellowstone National Park

As one of the U.S.'s most popular national parks, Yellowstone provides plenty of options for sleeping within its boundaries. Choose from lodges, inns, cabins, hotels, motels, and campgrounds throughout the park. Most of the structured accommodations lie in the park's most-visited areas, such as Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Falls, Old Faithful Geyser, and Yellowstone Lake. Staying on the northern side of the lake puts you right in the heart of the park, making it relatively convenient to visit other areas. Resorts, lodges, and guest ranches line the road just outside the park's east entrance, and a cluster of motels and hotels fills the town of West Yellowstone near the west entrance. You can also opt for lodges and inns to the north in Gardiner, Montana, or find nearly every type of accommodation to the south in Jackson, Wyoming. Staying outside the park is fine if you plan to drive through in a day and catch the highlights, but you'll want to spend at least one night inside the park if you plan to explore it more thoroughly.
