  • I have grown up in Wytheville and this place has always been here. Scenery is beautiful. Windy days are hard to focus but still nice. The tower looks interesting, I am afraid of heights so I have not ...  read more »
  • We were in the area for a soccer game and had a little extra time on our hands and decided to go. It was a gorgeous day and the view just from the country store was great! However - it is not every da...  read more »
  • Quaint, old fashioned general store and ice cream shop with a tower to climb, trials to explore and musical events galore. If you are nearby, don't miss it.
  • Stop for a beautiful view. There is a fire tower one can pay an incredibly steep 6.00 for adults and 4.00 for children to see a panoramic view off of Big Walker Mountain. Or do as we did and drive up Big Walker Rd. For a free lookout. There is a tourist trap store with typical racoon skin hats, overpriced jellies and other things your life is already complete without. Ice cream was ok, but the bathrooms clean.
  • The spectacular panoramic view alone makes the long, windy mountain drive worthwhile. If you climb the tower, keep in mind that the structure shakes with your movements and the strong winds. The gift shop is a kitschy, but the shopkeepers are very friendly and they have great ice cream.
  • Place was a really cool old tourist place. The price to go up to the lookout seemed quite high at $12 per adult. But the view from the ground was still amazing.
  • I was skeptical when we passed the "Bigfoot truther" who had set up a van/table out front, but went in to look around for myself. We were considering a purchase until I saw the selection of confederate flags. The shopkeepers have a right to sell what they please, but if that includes symbols that many of us find offensive/painful, they won't get any of our dollars.
  • Beautiful overlook of valleys; gift and ice cream shop; observation tower to climb for the brave for a small fee. Well worth the drive up the hill!
