  • Good trails but not one of my favorite hiking spots; although the scenery is very nice I prefer other locations in the area to hike but it is worth the visit
  • My wife and I hiked the Purisima Creek Trail and it was a memorable experience! We live in San Mateo, and it was only about a 20 minute drive from our house to the preserve. We opted to park in the so...  read more »
  • Nice hiking trails (a couple to choose from) and lots of shade along the way. Steep incline at some points. Like Jurassic Park. Filled with ferns and creek and wildflowers in the right season. Well wo...  read more »
  • Diverse trail system makes for great mid/long hikes. Upper trails provide beautiful views toward Half Moon Bay with open vistas and tall grass; descending into the valleys is almost rainforest-like in places, including some fairly dark sections due to a thick canopy. Several nice sections of second growth redwoods. Some mountain bikes, but several trails too steep and loose to pedal. Several great trails that are foot path only.
  • In1998 I looked after my friend's small cabin in Menlo Park so I was able to hike every few days in Purisima Creek Redwoods and Huddart Park. Those days are etched into my memory. Each experience changed my life, giving me increasing courage and inspiration to return to neglected artistic pursuits. Being in nature for hours is an unbelievably restorative thing. Lost in natural beauty outside of ego, apart from the petty distractions that other people and the larger society impose... I was saved. And to this day I am grateful.
  • Great place to hike. Gorgeous scenery with multiple trails. If you hike from Skyline Blvd the hike takes you dooooown which is good 2 to 3 hours but the hike back is a killer hike. Total time to hike 6 to 8 miles is a good 5+hours which is totally worth it Route is shaded and at the end of trail is running water Creek. Carry plenty of water+snack. You can also start your hike from HalfMoonBay which is totally uphill. This one should be to_do in your hiking bucket list.
  • Great trail system for hiking, running, or mountain biking. Dont bother mtbing the harkins ridge going up or else you will be sorry. The inclines are way too steep. The redwoods here that grow along the purisma creek range from small for over 7 foot in diameter. The sound of the creek was a pleasant. Enough visitors to feel safe but not too much where you cant feel isolated at times. Great balance.
  • I mean what is there not to like about being outdoors this is one of many great places up and down the coast and all skyline to go all of them are great this one is to I highly recommend getting out of the couch and going to one of these preserves and taking a look around it could change your life
