  • We decided to go for a family hike and loved the scenery. It started very cool and with a mist from the overcast. During our walk we were able to truly enjoy nature. You could hear The birds and the w...  more »
  • Not much parking, but Purisima Creek Redwoods are towering giants that few realize exist. It's located nearby Half Moon Bay, so if you are on the coast, or live there, check out these redwoods.  more »
  • Good trails but not one of my favorite hiking spots; although the scenery is very nice I prefer other locations in the area to hike but it is worth the visit  more »

  • Stunning redwoods. Trails in spring are surrounded by wild flowers. Not too crowded. All in all a peaceful not too challenging ramble.
  • This is a great off-the-grid 9-ish mile hike. There is very little cell reception once you start the hike. There is a free parking lot, but come early for a spot. There is a public bathroom at the parking lot and at the bottom. You hike to the bottom then hike up. The train path can get uneven, watch for banana slugs, horse poop, and exposed tree roots. It's all pretty covered so I'd suggest layers and long pants. Path isn't paved so don't wear shoes you're worried about getting dirty. I wore sneakers but saw a lot of hiking and trail running shoes. Pack water and snacks as it can get long depending how slow or fast you take it, but it's a steep climb up.
  • Beautiful gorgeous trails. If you are looking for views of extremely tall coastal redwoods, then this is the place. It is NOT dog friendly. No dogs, on leash or off. Also no camping. Just hiking, biking, and equestrian use. For Equestrians, the footing is solid and generally good except for extremely rainy days. Horses can drink from the creek and the trail is wide and easy with no technical areas. There are couple of bridges but with only one exception, they are wide enough that most horses should have no problem even if they have never seen a bridge before.
  • May 2017 // You don't have to go far to feel completely removed from the city. The Purisima Creek trail follows a tranquil creek where you'll cross several wooden bridges. You're surrounded by towering redwood trees and giant ferns. My fave hike? Start from the bottom, hike up Purisima Creek trail, take the more secluded Craig Britton single track connector, then go down the Harkins Ridge trail (steep-ish) to get back to the parking lot. About 7 miles. On a hot day, it's a nice hike because the greater part of this path is veiled by trees so you're shaded mostly :)
  • My favorite hike in the SF Bay area. Gorgeous redwoods, and the hills aren't too steep, particularly if you start on the Half Moon Bay side. It's 90% as pretty as Muir Woods, but without the huge crowds, so it feels so much more serene. Good for mountain biking as well as hiking on foot. Lots of tree cover, so dress in layers and most won't need to worry about sunblock. Love it here!
