  • Filoli stands for "Fight," "Love," and "Life". The stately mansion is huge. One can imagine being an invited guest back in the early 1900s. And the gardens are vast and glorious. A Woodsie "Must see"!
  • We visited Filoli today, mostly to see the gardens, but also enjoyed the the self-guided tour of the house. Gardens were spectacular, with much in full bloom. Blue Skies and sunshine certainly helped....  read more »
  • The grandeur of one of America's castles is surpassed by the magnificence of the adjoining gardens and grounds. Truly a California treasure! Filoli definitely warrants return visits as the seasons cha...  read more »
  • I would give a 5, but the fee is quite high for most lower income family to go. No doubt that this is one of the most beautiful garden and landscape! I would recommended to get the membership if you're planning to go more than one or with family. What's is also great is the flowers and flowers arrangements inside the main house often changes.
  • This is a beautiful manor and garden! It felt similar to Hearst Castle, but smaller of course. The gardens are beautiful and well kept. Visiting is a great way to take time to "smell the roses." It is also very picturesque, so it has many great photo opportunities. It is also a great place to practice photography. There are also lots of Pokestops if you play Pokemon. I enjoyed looking at all the plants and flowers. Each one states its species. Some plants weren't in season, and we went during summer at 11am to 1:30pm, so the sun was direct, light was bright, and hot. There isn't a lot of shade, so if you go in summer, please bring water and wear sunscreen. I also enjoyed touring the manor. It only allows for the first floor, but it is incredibly spacious. Many furnishings are originals and are so intricate. Great for those who enjoy art history and appreciate interior design and antiques. It is $20 for adults and $10 for students.
  • Beautiful gardens to walk through. During our trip there we saw several beautiful garden areas and unique sculptures. The house itself sent you back in time to the early 1900's. The kitchen was very "modern" for its time. :)
  • Neat grounds, and mansion, but it could have been so much more. Mansion. Pretty impressive house with plenty of information and signs to self tour. What sucked was that we weren't allowed upstairs/downstairs (wine cellar) so you really only get to see 1/3 of the house. Reasons for that aside it just made the house portion seem rushed (especially since it's $20 per adult). Grounds. Well taken care of and I've no doubt the former owners would have approved. Not quite double stroller friendly, but it was entertaining for a half day with the kids to do something a little different.
  • Filoli is one of the gems of the peninsula. Not a lot of people know of this place, but the setting and the gardens are amazing! You'll not regret your visit. The cafe has basic food (sandwiches and salads) but the food is very good. Give yourself at least two hours to visit the gardens and the mansion.
