  • Wonderful place to visit as a local and as a tourist. The grounds and gardens are stunning. The main house museum is quite fascinating for all ages. The volunteer's working there share their knowledge of all things Filoli. Its most impressive. You can find staff in every room who are eager to share facts and stories about the property and families that lived there. My visit included a little face to face time with their resident peacock, Percy. Seems he was enamored with my bright red coat.
  • After the rains that they Bay Area has had the past couple of weeks, now is the best time to go to Filoli. Most of the flowers are in bloom and look absolutely breathtaking. The flowers, especially the wisteria, smells really nice. The staff are really friendly and helpful. It's $20 per person (adult). Great way to spend your day just admiring the gardens and the house.
  • This historic property, just a short drive from Silicon Valley, is the perfect place to take your visiting parents. The house is magnificent, but the grounds are even more impressive, so be sure to go when the weather is nice. Plan to spend several hours and bring your camera. We visited in late winter when the bulbs and camellias were at their peak but the trees were not yet leafed out; I imagine it is beautiful every time of year. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and not intrusive; they are there to answer any questions you might have. Worth the price of admission, particularly if you are a gardener. Discounts for seniors and children; children under 5 are free. Consider a membership if you plan to visit often. Just a couple of words of caution: Quite a bit of walking is required on some rugged paths if you want to see it all, and the paths are not suited for walkers or strollers. Also restrooms are few and far between.
  • A bit of a disappointment as a man. I appreciate the upkeep of such a major garden. I also like bringing a Victorian English garden to a California plot of land. But the garden itself was not the best. Just ok. Very large and very green but the flowers and special plants are lacking. So the small ponds and the pool become the highlights of the garden. The actual house was very nice and did have some interesting articles. It was similar to touring any large house. Library, dining room, multiple kitchens, game room, and the very impressive ballroom.
  • Peaceful setting, beauty everywhere you look. Rare plants and unusual blooms. Friendly staff and volunteers. Occasional wildlife - deer, turkey, peacock. Ever changing art displays. Amazing architectural details. Everything is clean and well maintained. A wonderful place to relax and recoup your serenity.
