  • The best of Wilmington! A beautiful recreation of the 17th century armed merchant vessel that brought settlers from Sweden who founded the colony of New Sweden which is Delaware. The ship is available for charters, local day sales and educational sails, as well as corporate events and weddings. The maritime center hosts a collection of over 70 watercraft models from around the world, as well as a three quarter size model of the Kalmar Nyckel where students and visitors can learn how to fire a cannon and set and douse a sail.
  • A great ship full of great crew and a wonderful way to spend a day with family. The history program is amazing and provides knowledge to those who seek it. Best way to get hands on training on a tall ship.
  • A sailing experience like you'll never get anywhere else!!! The Kalmar Nyckel allows passengers to participate, haul on lines, set sail or be supervisors as passengers would like. You also learn a lot of interesting things about the history of the ship.
  • Very disappointed. Scheduled a trip on the Kalmar Nyckel for my Birthday. Picked a date and time that my son could go with me, I paid for the tickets online, and was ready to go, it's something I wanted to do for along time. A couple of days later I received a phone call from them saying there was a scheduling conflict , and ask me to change my time. Because my son had other things scheduled that day we could not change. I m not sure how there could be a conflict when they make up their schedule several months in advance. Maybe someone booked a private trip so we got bumped so they could make more money.
  • I went to "Colonists Day" and was pleasantly surprised to see such a lively neighborhood and fascinating people! What a find!
