#4 of 11 in Parks in Wilmington
This 933-acre park is divided by grey stone walls built of local stone in the late 1800's. At that time the property was a dairy farm owned by the du Pont family. This unique area became a state park in 1965, one of the first parks in the nation to be purchased with Land and Water Conservation Funds. The park maintains 14 miles of trails for fitness, wildlife observation, and photography.

  • Spent the morning meandering here. Very pretty and the trails were nice. Bring dollar bills -- parking was $8 and no one was at the booth so we had to leave and get change and go back.  more »
  • This park is really beautiful but I got so lost in there. It started out as innocent wandering and then I had no idea where I was or how to get back where I came from. I was also very sweaty. So maybe...  more »
  • The park was ok. If you want a really good place to exercise I suggest the park but it wasn't any attractions in the park.  more »

  • Love hiking here with kids. Friendly staff. Mix of easy and moderate trails. Very pretty in spring!
  • Love this park! The grounds are beautiful, great views, wonderful staff and the Owl Prowls and Star Gazing events are terrific!
  • Beautiful views and beautiful park. The spring flowers were out! The trails along the river stretch for miles and miles.
  • Got married here in the pouring rain! The location was absolutely beautiful and the staff were very helpful and nice, even if they can't control the weather.
  • Great small park with walking trails. Most trails are through woods with rocks and roots with a few trails going through lowland and fields. Trails drain pretty well with only a few getting muddy. There are walks through fields, woods, and along the river. Great picnic park (there are facilities and benches) with rolling hills. It's great and easy for families and kids too, just don't expect to use a stroller.
