This 933-acre park is divided by grey stone walls built of local stone in the late 1800's. At that time the property was a dairy farm owned by the du Pont family. This unique area became a state park in 1965, one of the first parks in the nation to be purchased with Land and Water Conservation Funds. The park maintains 14 miles of trails for fitness, wildlife observation, and photography.

  • This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. I ran through along the Brandywine Creek during a half marathon and was amazed by how pretty it was!  more »
  • The park is very pretty and the trails are done well. When you get down 'in the hollow' you can look up at the bridges and structure noting the rock work. This is serene, and it is well kept.  more »

  • Love hiking here with kids. Friendly staff. Mix of easy and moderate trails. Very pretty in spring!
  • Love this park! The grounds are beautiful, great views, wonderful staff and the Owl Prowls and Star Gazing events are terrific!
  • Got married here in the pouring rain! The location was absolutely beautiful and the staff were very helpful and nice, even if they can't control the weather.
  • Beautiful views and beautiful park. The spring flowers were out! The trails along the river stretch for miles and miles.
  • A great park for hiking, diversity in trail difficulty, scenery, and environmental habitats. Long trail routes are available and neighbors a National Park.
