Bellevue State Park, Wilmington

4.7
#3 of 11 in Parks in Wilmington
Bellevue Hall mansion commands a grand view of this historic estate, and its present form reflects alterations made by William du Pont, Jr. Mr. du Pont surrounded his home with the finest facilities: tennis courts, equestrian stables, gardens, and a picturesque pond, amid woodlands and fields overlooking the Delaware River. The park was acquired by the State of Delaware in 1976.

The Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation has retained the historic charm of Bellevue while providing many opportunities for recreation. Walking and jogging are popular activities at any time of the year. A 1-1/8 mile fitness track circles a catch-and-release fishing pond stocked with bass, catfish, and sunfish, while the nearby exercise trail offers a refreshing workout. Hiking trails allow you to explore other parts of the estate. If you prefer cycling, both paved and unpaved paths lead you on a leisurely tour.

  • Fantastic place to relax, read, take in the nature trails, or walk through the open paths with the family. Ideal place for weddings, concerts, and photo shoots as well. Entrance fee is very minimal and helps contribute towards the maintenance of this great location.
  • I had an amazing experience there it was great the have a picnic area a 1 mile long trail great for biking and walking and many playgrounds. It's definitely worth the drive
  • Been going here since I was a kid. Always been a favorite park of mine. Good for walking, running, watching the birds and turtles around the pond, and lots of summer concerts. When I was a kid, I did some horseback riding there, too.
  • Plenty of hiking, histoic buildings and the stables offer things to do while spending time among the greenery. Beautiful gardens, an amphitheatre that's host to public summertime concerts, and multiple tennis courts. There's also a public garden in which one can lease space and grow their own fruit and vegetables.
  • This park is beautiful. You can fish, hike, bike, ride horses, picinic, play tennis. It is a great place with outdoor conerts too. I live it here. Clean pkace, friendly staff.
