  • Gilson is an awesome beach. It has lifeguards, food, and a nice lake. It tends to get really busy on weekends which is definitely a downside.  more »
  • Well worth the visit. This beach is well maintained during the summer months. A special bonus, a playground on the sand, is the perfect area for little kids to run through, a concession stand with pic...  more »
  • Wonderful place to relax, walk along the beach barbecue or fly a kite. There are tennis courts and free outdoor concerts in the Summer.  more »

  • Love Gilson Park. It is the best lakefront park in the North Shore. Within its 64 acres are has a great sandy beach for swimming, a sailing beach, and and outdoor amphitheatre that has free plays and concerts in the summer. It also has tennis courts, grassy fields, kid play area, and a work out spot.
  • Good beach, heavy regulation of water use outside paid beach section and no rental of boats on days with winds stronger than passable sailable. Good place for an evening stroll or a family or otherwise organized event with many picnic tables and a playground. Dog beach near the harbor to the south.
  • Gorgeous views of the lake a long stretch of beach makes this a great place to visit especially around sunset. The park is very clean and quite a sight-to-see especially when there are less people around. Parking can be a hassle if you don't have necessary lakefront or beach permit parking.
  • Best and Biggest Park North of Chicago and South of Wisconsin. Harbor, Beach, Tennis Courts, Dog Beach, Fishing, Picnic/Grilling areas. Sailing, Kayak, Stand Up boards. Huge Public Beach with tons of sand. It is THE best!!!!
  • Yes the beach does cost 9.50 to get in per person, however was very spacious and not over crowded. Parking was very convienant.
