  • A lovely way to spend a few hours. Setting is gorgeous, collection is impressive, and the architecture of the building is pleasant and airy.

  • Renoir show was incredible and well researched by the tour guide. I loved that the museum had so much lovely outdoor space including hiking trails through woods and pastures. The patio and reflecting pools provide a stunning spot for a rest between exhibits.
  • This is arguably the greatest medium-sized museum in the world. It would be worth visiting for the Bouguereau masterpiece "Nymphs and Satyr" all by itself. Its family days were also wonderful outings when I lived in the area with young children.
  • A beautiful setting for a classy art institute with impressive exhibitions. First stop, just by the front desk, is the revealing sound installation "The forty part motet" by Janet Cardiff. Then the main show, "Renoir: the body, the senses", an extensive and well curated study of his nudes. There is plenty more to see from the original binge-shopping expeditions of Stirling and Francine Clark to the Paris of the early 20th century.
  • This place is gorgeous! One of my favorite John Singer Sargent's paintings is here and they have a great collection of Renoir! I highly recommend this museum!
  • The atmosphere is cold and austere . One is greeted by slabs of granite, no flowers, no murals. Inside, the same, especially in the basement. Cold concrete walls. Lack of handicap accessible doors is a big problem. Why are they allowed to get away with this deficiency? Signage for the displays is poor. Way too small. One of my favorite museums is the Peabody Essex. 5 stars.
