The facility needed repairs in excess of half a million dollars, and they decided to add a few slides and a watering mushroom to make the pool more attractive. However, the idea of a full waterpark, like the one in a neighboring town, was approved. The city acquired a 55acre farm to build the recreation area called Hal Rogers Family Entertainment Center.
