The handful of chairlifts at Whitefish Mountain Resort in Flathead National Forest take visitors to the slopes and provide great views. The mountain has three faces, each with its own terrain, from smooth and easy to tree-covered and challenging. Hell Roaring Basin hosts snowboarders and daredevils on its soft snow. Hellfire is the longest trail in the park at 5.3 km (3.3 mi). Visitors can try themed ski tours, such as night skiing or moonlight skiing and dining. The list of activities in summer is also long, and includes a Summer Nature Center, hiking, and mountain biking. • My hubby and I drove up to this lodge hoping for spectacular views of Whitefish lake. What a disappointment. Not much of a ski village really. Maybe we're spoiled by Colorado's ski resorts.  more »

  • Excellent off-the-beaten path ski resort. We visited in February 2014, stayed in town (short and easy drive to the slopes), had great conditions, and good service. Good mountain for all skill levels, though it's not a mountain with gnarly rock outcroppings. Only a 4 star mountain for slightly better lift layout (there are some long cat tracks on the front side), but totes worth 5 stars for the airtime.
  • Never been in winter, but in the summer, it is the number one pick for down hill Mountain biking. The flow trails are epic. The Huckleberry Berry picking is really good to, especially late July and early August. Fun outdoor family activities too. For you brother adrenaline junkies, Kashmir and Freebird (pictured) are great!
  • Great place to stop in the summer especially if you like to mountain bike. Plus there is a high rope course, ziplines, and a slide. I suggest doing the slide twice.
  • Great mountain to do some skiing, hiking, mountain biking, or just to take a ride to the top in the summer for a beer at the summit house. Gorgeous views! Have to check this out!
  • We went during the summer when family was visiting from out of state. Fires prevented a clear view of the valley. I recommend going on a clear day for spectacular sights. Small area to grab a drink and snack inside. Gift shop there too. Also a nice learning center aimed at kids about animals and such.
