The handful of chairlifts at Whitefish Mountain Resort in Flathead National Forest take visitors to the slopes and provide great views. The mountain has three faces, each with its own terrain, from smooth and easy to tree-covered and challenging. Hell Roaring Basin hosts snowboarders and daredevils on its soft snow. Hellfire is the longest trail in the park at 5.3 km (3.3 mi). Visitors can try themed ski tours, such as night skiing or moonlight skiing and dining. • This place is incredible. I haven't stayed here but I have skied here on two separate vacations. The staff is wonderful and the mountain is beautiful. I think there's a total of like 110 runs. Everything from bunny hills to the extremely experienced. The lodge is beautiful. The food is pricey and not that great for the price, which is the only downside and the only reason I dropped a star. We just bring our own food. They rent equipment and have many different types of training. They even have a daycare and will take little ones out. I've seen babies as young as 3 out there on the slopes.
  • A skiers mountain. Great terrain, fabulous off-groom and out-of-bounds skiing. Big Mountain claims 3,000 skiable acres but skis like double or triple that. The fog scares off the pretenders, but that just leaves more room for the serious skier. Add to this one of the most talented groomer crews in the business and you just can't go wrong. Don't miss it.
  • The people at Whitefish are just the best. Tons if great bars for midday and apr├Ęs-ski lounging. The front will keep you busy but don't forget to check-out the backside!
  • The most picturesque place to slide down frozen water. Don't believe me? See for yourself. Big Mountain has the best terrain of any snow resort I've been, with acres to explore.
  • I've been here twice now for winter skiing (December 22nd - 29th). Perfect dry powder snow that's awesome for boarding. A lot of different difficulty levels of runs. Lift lines are pretty good compared to other mountains.
