We are long time visitors of Tamarack- have always loved it but I've been meaning to write a review since the renovations were completed. The facilities and programs at this nature center are so great... more »
Great place to enjoy a peaceful nature walk! They also have a great play area for the kids! Very nice trails and places to sit, reflect and enjoy. more »
Love, love, love Tamarack Nature Center!!! If you have little ones, there is nothing better than the play area near the parking lot side of the park. They can climb, run, build with long sticks. They have special events like Maple sugar making, evening snow shoeing, etc. This is such a beautiful nature preserve. Walking around the big loop takes about an hour at a good pace. They have a building with classrooms, and bathrooms. Nice place to have a picnic too, as they have several picnic tables.
Excellent nature setting, excellent visitor center and facilities. Many volunteers work here and they're all friendly and very charming. There are a few permanent exhibits and live animal displays that are almost attractions themselves. The place is beautiful in winter a D I can't wait to check it out again and revisit in the summer!
We went here to "opt outside" on Black Friday. I had never heard of it before and saw the positive reviews so we decided to check it out. I was so impressed by the trails and beauty. Trails were easy to follow and not crowded. Went on a 2.5 mile walk and enjoyed Mother Nature close to home.
Love he gorgeous nature over here. There is some really cool trails to check out. While on the trails you will see lots of dragon flies, birds, frogs, flowers, and even turtles. They have a really cool area for kids to play in the water and sand. They also have a garden which was closed when we got there but looks very beautiful from the fence/gate. There also a building to go into which was also closed when we were there so haven't gotten to look inside the building. I have to say though, a very awesome place to be if you enjoy bird watching. We seen a few birds that were so unique and have no idea how to identify them but it was so cool. I am a huge fan of blue birds and there were quite a few of them over around the garden area. Got to see the bright yellow finches and even lots of chipmunks running around. Only spent about an hour and half there but definitely am planning on returning. Just a very nice place to be and next time I really plan to bird watch. So peaceful and very entertaining!!!
I can't recommend this nature area enough. But a few words of warning. If you want your kids to stay within arms' reach of you at all times, this place is not for you. If you want your kids to only play on triple-safety-tested plastic playgrounds, this place is not for you. If you want your kids to always stay dry and clean, this place is not for you. If you want your kids to have their goals presented to them ready-made, this place is not for you. For the rest of us, this place is AWESOME.
