Blackwell Forest Preseve reviews
I went here for a walk. The trails are wide which is good with Covid. I saw a deer, some ducks, and a lot of geese. Nice and quiet spot. more »
Blackwell is a large forest preserve with multiple entrances. Check the map because there are many trails. Climb Mt Hoy for a nice view of the suburbs. Go tubing in the winter. Rent a boat in..... more »
But, this is a great place to unwind, walk, hike, bike, or even just sit and clear your head. Great nature sounds once you are inside the park, and great camping in the youth campground. more »
Came here today for a nice walk with the dog (it's 80 degrees in April so had to make sure we enjoyed it!). We decided to come to Blackwell simply because it was the closest forest preserve to us with parking. It ended up being way more than we expected! The entire area is beautiful with ample parking, bench and picnic areas. There is so much to do there! They have an off leash dog area (however you will need a permit), canoe, kayak and boat rentals and an archery area. In the winter they also have tubing, snow shoeing and cross country skiing! We'll definitely be coming back to enjoy this beautiful area!
This preserve is very close to our home. I am impressed by its cleanliness and well kept grounds. We would like to see the campground season open longer, as of this writing it closed for the season. Boating rentals are reasonable and the lake spacious. Definitely worth a visit and return visits, especially so close to home without driving to Wisconsin or Indiana.
Had a wonderful day on the lake. So beautiful and the 2 young men working were so helpful and sweet. Can’t wait to go back. I’m unable to travel far from home so this was a great day vacation.
Blackwell is a good park. Plenty of trails for biking, running, or just walking around. If you're lucky enough to go on a clear day you'll be able to see a glimpse of the Chicago skyline from the top of the hill.
A beautiful place. They have a boat landing area, Archery range. A nice place to visit with family or for planning a picnic or get together.
