Enjoyed our trip to this interesting (and free) attraction near Rye, Colorado. The signs around the castle were a bit strange, but the structure itself is worth the trip!
Not to code at all and there are disclaimers everywhere but totally unique and such a sight to behold! Not for those scared of heights!
AWesome castle in the mountains. Built by one man!! Started in 1969 all on a dream! You have to visit this place, watch your head as you go up or down on stairs. Enter at your own risk. If you get to ... read more »
This place is interesting. Beautiful in its own right, but with two kids afraid of heights, it's fun for about 5 minutes. We instead, took pictures and hiked an easy trail until the hubby and daughter conquered the high, see through bridges. They had a good time. I went with no expectations. I didn't regret going, but I wished for something a little more. It was ok.
This place is just amazing. There isnt really parking for it...any explanation for it...it just is. You'll find out all you need to from experiencing it. The drive from I-25 was nice, get a great view of Lake Isabel on the way up. Get to Bishops Castle and park on the side of the highway, everyone seems to just mesh in. When we went, they had porta potties, and someone selling some BBQ. No admission, but Bishop has a mission. Go to the gift shop and support the cause, and be ready to explore and be amazed at this 1 mans life's mission. If you are afraid of heights, you can enjoy the lower levels. Stairs are hard to get up and down with a lot of visitors.
An amazing structure. Not for the faint of heart. Lots of awesome staircases. ..some a bit harrowing. Be careful there is real danger ...this ain't Disney. That is what makes it so fun! A worthy scene.
Coolest attraction of all time. Structurally sound. You won't die if you're careful.
Very cool structure you won't see anywhere else in Colorado, maybe the country. You can climb in it, just be careful as you can hurt yourself pretty easily. I banged my head several times. Maybe I should start looking up...? It's really a lot of fun, worth a visit if you're in the area.
