  • We stopped in and were amazed at the sites. A must see to appreciate. We'll be back in the area next year and plan to stop in again but this time spend more time checking out the sites.
  • We were surprised to find that the New River Gorge is part of the National Park System. Very nice visitor center, interesting movie about New River and its history, very nice trails in good condition,...  more »
  • The New River is a contradiction. Only major river that flows North in the US. Starts in the Mountains of NC and then flows through Virginia and into West Virginia when it meets to Gauley River to for...  more »

  • Could have spent days trekking around this beautiful National Park!!! Make sure to take the original road down to bottom of the gorge... amazing views of the bridges and the river. Get out and traverse those trails, find those hidden waterfalls and rapids!! The Parks Service have done well with the marking of trails and great job of pointing out historical information, too.
  • This National River has soooo much to offer! From the amazing fishing locations along the river to the climbing routes available in the gorge and everything in between! I work for a Boy Scout property that was recently built just adjacent to the National River and we utilize the beauty and recreation of the NRG as much as possible. Now excuse me while I go packup my paddle board to go play on the river.
  • Great views of the river by the aptly named Grandview. Nearly deserted in the off season, so some great opportunities to see wildlife. Rafting down the river is a blast if you can get the trip organised.
  • Amazing view. If you want to get the full view you can ask their office for scenic view places. They will guide you. Very friendly.
  • It's so beautiful in the fall. Take the old road down, it's worth it.
