Kennywood, West Mifflin

3.9
Founded in 1898, Kennywood is one of the oldest amusement parks in America. The park features 46 rides including wooden and steel coasters, kiddie attractions, high-speed rides, and gentle adventures--some of which date back to the park's beginnings. Try Jack Rabbit from 1920, one of the oldest operational roller coasters in the world. See how it feels to be a rat at the Exterminator coaster. Get 45 m (146 ft) off the ground in a pendulum-like structure and meet creepy ghosts, ghouls, and skeletons at one of the three dark attractions. Three water rides also add to the fun. • Save your $35 for something better. More than an hour in each line to go through mediocre, at best, haunted attractions. Crowds were not big but the lines were ridiculously sloooooowww!  more »
  • Cool atmosphere, ok haunted houses but the rest was awful. I was there last weekend for the entire length of time the park was open. We only got in two haunted houses and 1 ride before the park closed...  more »
  • You would think Kennywood would have a capacity limit or something. We went last Saturday October 21st and it was the busiest I have ever seen Kennywood and I went to a very large school and remember ...  more »

  • We are from Florida , so Disney is our usual vacation spot. This year, while in Pa. We visited Kennywood park. We haven't been there in years. It was a whole new experience. The park was very clean, very affordable, from the tickets to get in, to the food and drinks. We were very impressed! The rides were great, a lot of different things to see and do. O would say this place is comparable to Disney, only on a smaller scale, and much more affordable. We had a great time at this park, and will definitely recommend to anyone visiting, or living in Pa. We had our family there, aging from 3 yrs. old to 84 yrs. old, and everyone enjoyed this place.
  • So sad to see Kennywood going downhill... Weeds and over grown grass every where...the Kenny family would be so ashamed. Mediocre over priced food...nothing tastes like it Did 10 years ago let alone when I was smaller...don't see any of the kids tossing fresh pizza dough, heavy over greasy corn dogs and under cooked French fries. We have season passes and other than the new bbq place by the lake or Johnny Rockets we usually eat before or call for pizza at papa John's before we leave and by the time we get to our car it's finished. And the staff... Oh my how horrible their customer service skills are. No smiles on any game operator or food stand. We played over 50 bucks in games and also had 1 funnel cake, 2 orders of potato patch fries, one slice of pizza and 2 corn dogs and spent 9 hrs in the park. How hard is it to smile...the racers crew and steel phantom were the most fun staff and I still would only rate them a 50% out of 100%.... Not the same Kennywood at all. Miserable staff is such a turn off.
  • Best amusement park in the world! You cannot beat the history and atmosphere of this place. I can't even count how many times we've been here and we still love it just the same every time! :)
  • As a Pittsburgh native, I have grown up with this amusement park and I love it. The memories you make there as a kid live on for the rest of your life. The roller coasters are a blast and there's nothing like a day at Kennywood. Fun for little kids to the elderly. Great place!
  • A staple of Pittsburgh in which people travel from different states to visit. It may not have as many roller coasters as other parks, but there's enough to keep roller coaster enthusiasts occupied. This park is always busy but lines seem to move quickly enough (excluding The Exterminator). Concession stands and game booths are surprisingly affordable and there is a separate kid's section of the park for preschool age kids. I'm not sure if it still is, but parking was free for a little while. The park also holds special events around Halloween and Christmas so you can enjoy the park more than just in the summer.
