  • Everyone knows about Hoovervilles but this man was also responsible for UNICEF. A humanitarian throughout his life. Can't see many present day politicians coming from such humble beginnings,
  • I learned a lot about President Hoover's early life and experiences. I never realized how important his religion was to him. It was refreshing to learn about a president that genuinely cared about peo...  read more »
  • We have visited four other presidential libraries/museums and this was as good as the others. We never knew much about Hoover, so it was a very educational visit. He was obviously a fabulously success...  read more »
  • Make time for the library exhibits. The cottage was so impressive; the ironworks were interesting and it was nice to learn a bit there, too, but if I'd had more time I would've stayed another day and really gone into the library more, and I also would've seen more of the town. The first stop at the Nat'l Park site captured interest as it really put me back in the time...
  • I have to admit, I stopped here to get the park passport stamp and stayed because of the compelling story. It's fascinating to hear how Hoover's brilliant ideas as Sect. of Commerce just didn't translate well to the situation of the Great Depression. On the other hand, the same ideas with the added charisma of FDR became the New Deal. This charming location is well worth the stop if you are heading through.
  • Great presidential library and historic site with history on the only president from Iowa. The park rangers are very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
  • Loved the exhibits and the maintenance of the grounds. Some of the signage was really small though, and doesn't show up well on pictures.
  • Great place to learn about Mr. Hoover.
