  • This is a part of the Presidential library and a must to visit. To see how he grew up and what he became is fantastic. His small town is well preserved and well labeled! It is a short walk from the li...  more »
  • This site gives a great overview of how Hoover grew up, even though he only lived here in his early years. I doubt most know he was an orphan, a "self made man" through his years at Stanford U before ...  more »
  • Well preserved beautiful small town, there are cottages, work areas, streets that existed when Hoover was a boy. The main town of west branch is adorable too. Not as large as another similar site Colo...  more »

  • Make time for the library exhibits. The cottage was so impressive; the ironworks were interesting and it was nice to learn a bit there, too, but if I'd had more time I would've stayed another day and really gone into the library more, and I also would've seen more of the town. The first stop at the Nat'l Park site captured interest as it really put me back in the time...
  • I have to admit, I stopped here to get the park passport stamp and stayed because of the compelling story. It's fascinating to hear how Hoover's brilliant ideas as Sect. of Commerce just didn't translate well to the situation of the Great Depression. On the other hand, the same ideas with the added charisma of FDR became the New Deal. This charming location is well worth the stop if you are heading through.
  • A nice educational historic place and unique in American culture
  • Great presidential library and historic site with history on the only president from Iowa. The park rangers are very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
  • Good to see a historical perspective of a misunderstood and blamed president.
