  • It’s an odd feeling to be so awestruck but at peace at the same time. I think it is that feeling which makes this place so amazing. You need to go to experience it for yourself. I would recommend taki...  more »
  • Beautiful walking tour of the various grottos that were built through the years. Gorgeous stones and marble statues. Stunning view from the top. It is free and open 24 hours.  more »

  • Went to Iowa with my GF's family and was told we'd be checking this place out. Now I'm not really a religious guy myself, so I wasn't sure what to expect even though I was constantly being promised it was worth the time to drive there. Turns out this place is a sight to behold, especially out in the middle of Iowa. Walking around the lake and museum is nice enough, but the main attraction is of course the grotto/castle that was built by hand over the course of years, and it doesn't disappoint at all. It's honestly hard to describe, but if you're in the area and enjoy odd/interesting landmarks, this is well worth stopping by. I imagine it's even more interesting if you're actually Catholic and understand the religious aspects of it. And even if you're not (or just don't care), it's still a really neat place to check out.
  • Too much to say about this amazing place. Just go!!! the sheer number of crystals and rocks will amaze. the undertaking to build and design and create is mind boggling. As a Stone artist, myself, i was completely taken aback by the way the energy shifts thru the Grotto. So much gratitude that we made it there.
