  • I arrived about 10 a.m. midweek for a walk around the island on the perimeter Trail. I saw not a soul on the entire Island. In the fall the foliage is beautiful overlooking the Mohawk River. The walk ...  more »

  • For a $6 parking fee, the hikes at Peebles are easy and scenic. There are a few choices, and most afford you great views of the river or canals. There are also picnic tables and a pavilion on site.

  • Absolutely beautiful place to spend a fall day. There's a herd of deer on the island (apparently they're there most of the time) and it's nice to get a taste of the great out-doors so close to Albany or Troy.
  • Great place for an easy family "hike"! Great views as well, but keep small kiddos away from trail edge. Lots of spots where one could easily slip and fall if they got too close.
  • Always a nice place to take a walk, any season. Lots of paths, but the best is a walk around the perimeter -- great views of the river. Not recommended for very young children as there are cliffs without fences or any barriers. Stay on the inside paths with the young ones.
  • One minute you're in the city. The next, serenity. You can run a 5k in the secluded woods and just pop back to civilization. Peebles Island is gorgeous!
  • All the fixings of a state park. I was impressed with the access to the water for boating. There seemed to be a lot going on. Well organized local vendors and entertainment. I didn't mind paying $6 for parking.
