  • Learned a lot of new things in a very short visit. There are historical artifacts and a nice place to sit on the lake.

  • The Jacobsen Museum is a quaint historical place to stop by to better understand the history and founding of Washington Island. It isn't a must see, but it is interesting. The museum sits on a calm....  more

  • We had the absolute BEST time in this museum—given the free nature of the museum and its location on Washington Island, we were so overjoyed to discover how many gems there were in this genuine, original construction of a Washington Island cabin. The guide working on-site was incredibly knowledgeable and more than happy to share information with us, including answering questions we had. Her love of history and the island was so clear it made the experience even more positive. Now, to be clear this is not a gigantic museum on par with MKE Public but what it is—is a gem on the shores of Little Lake rich in history. You’ll want to check it out while you’re on the island and see all the things you can. Put it on your Washington Island list!
  • Neat little museum. Kinda cool that a guy 100 years ago collected a bunch of interesting rocks, artifacts, etc. and then built a museum out of logs. If you come visit Washington Island stop on in! (The museum would appreciate a $1 do donation.)
  • Nice little museum, filled with artifacts of the Door Peninsula's history. Some of it from the founder's personal collection, some donated by others. All of it fascinating.
  • The museum itself was chock full of amazing history! I would go back again just to look at the scrollwood carvings that they made with an old scroll saw! Truly amazing! Giving it four stars because the woman who was the British curator was disrespectful and combative. Also knows nothing of American history. What? You're there to give us information on the things that are there not to condescend to school aged children excited to learn.
  • Really neat museum. They have all kinds of Island relics. Super knowledgeable staff. I suggest making the donation to help this wonderful place carry on!
