Where to stay in Washington DC

Most visitors to Washington, D.C., end up in the East End, the old downtown district containing most of the city's major cultural attractions. For a more authentic Washingtonian experience, consider staying at a smaller hotel just a little north or east of this busy area. Neighborhoods outside downtown offer less expensive accommodations and affordable street parking, as well as opportunities to meet more locals and fewer tourists. Alternatively, try a hotel in Georgetown, packed with high-end shops and Colonial architecture.

  • This gift shop is larger than most, and is located across from the White House. They sell shirts, magnets, cups, hats, overall a good variety of souvenirs. Tip: Look at the top of the tables. It is ea...  more »
  • They have a lot of nice/cute souvenirs here - some really funny stuff too. The prices were not outrageous, plenty of things for any budget. The staff was really nice and helpful. Glad we found it!  more »

  • Very nice stuff. A little pricey
  • Great selection, reasonable prices. Also was not as crazy busy as I thought it would be in there.
  • Incompetent service while cashing my money ($90). Placed order on 21 January and still waiting for the product. 2 delivery attempts prompt communication on my end and ZERO (0) response from WH Gifts...! Left 2 voice messages and sent 2 e-mails in 2-3 days and NOT a SINGLE REPLY. Pathetic. Call the toll free number and sent immediately to the voice recorder. Totally Incompetent at this time. UPS say they delivered my package (the second time) and arrived to leasing office 14 minutes later to collect my package and the package was NEVER there...! On the first delivery attempt, I sent them my physical address within 6 hrs of receiving the e-mail notification that UPS does not deliver to PO Box... (where was QA/QC before shipment?) and instead my package sat at a local UPS warehouse for a week and returned to sender the following week, while I provided them with an alternate PHYSICAL address a week earlier. Totally Incapable service.
  • Tourist trap with lots of great items but a little high on price.
  • Had a good time to get things after you spend 50$ you get a free PIC then you can pay 10 more for all three. It is a good deal
