  • Having lived in DC for 10 years, I thought I had seen almost everything. On a recent trip back, I looked for unusual things to do. The Manion on O popped up and was highly recommended. I now know why....  more »

  • This was the first thing I went to see on my first visit to Washington DC. And it was a great start. I went with my father (a senior) and he was like a kid in a candy store. It was just interesting an...  more »

  • The Mansion on O Street is AMAZING!! They can host any type of event you dream up and their tours are always fun. But more importantly with every visit to The Mansion, guests are prompted to look up and outside of themselves to rediscover how everything in life is interconnected allowing their imagination to flourish. Every time I visit, I learn something new about myself. The Mansion on O Street is the perfect place to bring visiting guests, who want to explore DC like a local.
  • It's a fantastic experience. You can probably stay an entire day and explore the whole house, without seeing everything. The exhibits are interesting and the hosts are very nice.
  • This is ine of thos amazing "off the beaten path" things to do in DC. The mansion has amazing history. Tons of cool things to take in. Probably would brings kids unless they are really into history. They have a bar and the staff is great!
  • I found the workmanship of the old mansion incredible. I loved the amount of old time solid wood. The BEST thing was searching for hidden doors. What incredible fun to think of it being built with these hidden features!
  • Funky old house with many hidden doors to find, would like to return with a large group to try and find them all.

Where to stay in Washington DC

Most visitors to Washington, D.C., end up in the East End, the old downtown district containing most of the city's major cultural attractions. For a more authentic Washingtonian experience, consider staying at a smaller hotel just a little north or east of this busy area. Neighborhoods outside downtown offer less expensive accommodations and affordable street parking, as well as opportunities to meet more locals and fewer tourists. Alternatively, try a hotel in Georgetown, packed with high-end shops and Colonial architecture.
