Interesting and truly informative!!! Also, the gift store has so many amazing and unique items!!! I know where I'm getting my stocking suffers this year!!!

The Textile Museum possesses a fascinatingly diverse collection that is approachable to someone with no familiarity with textiles. They regularly rotate exhibits and feature special events, so be sure to pick up a brochure to keep track of them! Gift shop also has great selection, though many items are steeply priced.

Hard to find, doesn't open until almost mid day, great gift shop, but the collection has just lousy explanations to go with the work on display. Unless you know all about what you are viewing you will not be enlightened by what you read.

Unusual, but cool combo of textile arts and connected exhibits on DC history.

Where to stay in Washington DC

Most visitors to Washington, D.C., end up in the East End, the old downtown district containing most of the city's major cultural attractions. For a more authentic Washingtonian experience, consider staying at a smaller hotel just a little north or east of this busy area. Neighborhoods outside downtown offer less expensive accommodations and affordable street parking, as well as opportunities to meet more locals and fewer tourists. Alternatively, try a hotel in Georgetown, packed with high-end shops and Colonial architecture.
