  • Living next to it for 3 months (via Soapstone Valley) in Van Ness, Rock Creek Park was a natural draw for a walker like me. In the first few weeks I gradually widened my walking until I covered all th...  more »
  • There are bike and walking trail. You feel like you are in a park HOWEVER this is as a commuter route through the park and can be very noisy.
  • It is a nature park and on the streets of Washington, D.C. is very unlikely. And quiet that you can forget step enter the city is a place where nature was abundant. Good exercise will enjoy the 10 kilometres distance when walking or running.

  • A refuge in the city! The hiking trails are wonderful, and the creek makes you feel like you aren't in the city. After a heavy rain, the creek offer paddlers some Class I- II rapids in short sections that you can run. It's a great alternative to driving further away from the city. I particularly love that they close the roads on the weekends to bike traffic only. This allows cyclists to get some training time in, as well as keeping hikers and horseback riders safe from speeding cars. I go to RCP every weekend and I'm still finding something new about it to love. Highly recommended!
  • All cities have their parks, this is DCs. I highly recommend taking a day to walk the paths around the park and escape the city blitz. On Saturday and Sunday they close off parts of beach road for bikers and pedestrians to walk freely on the road.
  • Secluded spot in the heart of Washington DC! Fantastic for a quick BBQ or to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life
  • A nice park that has some good trails and can be a welcome respite from the urban landscape while not being too far from downtown. On weekends, part of beach drive closes, which is great for hiking and cycling. Unfortunately, the creek isn't as clean as it should be.
  • Beautiful park! Beach Dr. is closed to vehicle traffic on the weekends and holidays, making it safe and quiet to hike along the road and enjoy nature. Rock Creek Park is a great getaway from the business of the city, and it's close by, too!
