  • Have been coming for years. Used to be on their mailing list for events. If you want a book with meat on it. Politics, international affairs, serious literature..... this is your place. Friends have o...  read more »
  • Politics and Prose is a classic. Fantastic selections and very knowledgeable staff. It is a good place to browse or to attend one of their readings or book signings. The remodeled coffee house (and wi...  read more »
  • Politics and Prose is just a classic no matter what. They've remodeled the coffee section as I like to call it - and although I really miss the '70's style wooden communal tables longingly (they alway...  read more »
  • This is a great stop. My wife and I often attended the Friday night open mic nights. However, since the very nice renovation that was only recently completed, there haven't been any. The bookstore is great, I wouldn't buy a book there necessarily, because...Amazon. However, they have these great quirky postcards that are really fun. I have bought quite a few.
  • Absolutely love this store. EVERY staff member is knowledgeable and passionate to help you find your materials. I love that the store is independent and working with Busboys and Poets.
  • Not the *greatest* space in the world, especially when what seems like the entire city of DC is there to see David Sedaris. I imagine it's better when it's calmer.
  • This place is great. It has good service and numerous books. The best part is that there is an author speaking practically every single day.
  • I give this place a 5, because it may be the best bookstore in DC (Kramers in Dupont is up there too). Politics and Prose has so much history in DC and they use their name to bring in some great speakers/authors for free! They have a large upstairs and downstairs with every book you can image. They even have a cafe in the downstairs wit ample seating, good snacks, and good coffee. The only downside that really is a charm is that it's in Cleveland Park. It seems so far away, but I must admit that neighborhood is nice with many local restaurants nearby.
