Visit National Mall, the historical national park where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I Have a Dream" speech. The park contains the Washington Monument and spans the region between the Lincoln Memorial and the United States Capitol. This park hosts numerous recreational activities, festivals, and concerts, but is most appreciated as a site for historic political rallies and gatherings, such as the Vietnam War Moratorium Rally in 1969. Millions of people visit the park annually to stand in the place where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous speech, and every four years Americans flood the park to watch the Presidential Inauguration. • Beautiful place. The monuments are further apart than you think... either be prepared to walk or or ride a tour bus - and carry a map of the area. Well worth a visit.
  • We walked the whole length of the mall many times. What truely amazing foresight by the planner of this city. Other than visiting Arlington Museum and the Pentagon we spent the whole week on the mall!
