  • We tried to explore this area while visiting today, but the gates were closed. Some chose to park at the gates and walk in the 2.5 miles to the overlook, however we chose not to. We look forward to co...  more »
  • Rim Rock is an experience you don't want to miss if you like hiking and trails. The rocks and views are beautiful. We would climb down through the rocks when we were younger. And the view of the Kinsh...  more »

  • Rimrock affords a lovely view out over the valley and the Kinzua Reservoir. You'll get the best views in the morning or very early afternoon when the sun is at your back (or at least not in your eyes), but it's more than worth the trip in the afternoon, if you're in the area. There's also a nice short hike (1.3 mi, one-way) down to Kinzua Beach if you want to visit the overlook and make a day of it. Be aware that the stairs leading down to the base of the overlook are quite steep and rather narrow, and that if it's a busy day, you may have to wait for others to pass if you want to head up or down. There is an alternate route to the base of the overlook, but it requires that you go around.
  • Beautiful views with unique steps and walkways. Restrooms and a bunch of picnic tables with charcoal grills is a nice touch. Plenty of parking here too.
  • Natural beauty everywhere you look. And the immense rocks from the ice age....make it a unique place to visit. One we never get tired of.
  • Awesome place to visit, make sure you wear your walking shoes. They have recently added a walking trail from the rocks down to the kinzu beach. Very beautiful scenery.
  • Good hike interesting tunnel stairways and great view of the Allegheny River a short way into the trail. Lots of stairs and hilly hiking well worth the trip. Also is a beach near there and can be hiked to.
