  • What a beautiful beach idyllic on the island of Maui, perfect for lovers of naturism. It is located to the South on the West side of the central part of the island, a little distant from the more urbanized areas of the island, on the northern edge of the Makena Beach Park where Big Beach. The site is exceptional and isolated between two rocky points of ancient lava flows, at the foot of a volcanic cone. Access is however a bit difficult because you have to walk a few hundred meters from the North parking lot of Big Beach to the north end of it. This is where it gets complicated because must climb a rocky escarpment of approximately 6 m high steep then back down a trail at gentle slope down on the Little Beach. The climb is difficult in the volcanic stone with sharp edges and crushed stone. Need good shoes to avoid injury feet. To avoid for those who have mobility problems, back problems, elderly. Not accessible by bike unless you carry them around on the back. Little Beach is served by no service. Unmonitored Beach, no toilets, water, or restaurant, or umbrellas, chairs or garbage. Dry toilets are available only at the Park. There is not much to have shade except through the rickety trees at the top of beach. The sand here is however less clean because mixed with organic dirt, branches and leaves. Bring if possible at least a parasol. However, we noted during our stay there was always a band of cloud passing over the beach which we avoided to be in full sun all day. This is due to the presence of the Haleakela volcano and the direction of the winds causing the condensation of these clouds. However, I do not know if this phenomenon is the same in any season. The beach is about 300 m on 10 to 20 m wide, with a powdery blond sand beautiful gentle sloping. No algae or rocks during our stay. In hot water, the beautiful sand only and chrystalline turquoise water with beautiful big waves. Several followers of body surfing at the southern end of the beach and a few people make snorkeling to the rocky point on the north side. The beach is fairly safe despite the lack of lifeguards because the water is shallow and there is no strong currents. Attention however to the children because the waves are strong and there is a good return current. That being said, you just install and you strip naked to sunbathe or enjoy a swim. No need for jerseys here because it is a nudist beach. Heaven what! Curious that there are more people here than on the nearby Beach? I don't know why? There are a number of textiles coming to enjoy the place or to get an eyeful but everything goes well because people are respectful. I saw nothing inappropriate. Some come to see and ultimately decide to drop the tissue after a while. The décor is Heavenly especially in the sunset over the ocean which always gives us a spectacle in color to each day. Always a little pinch in the heart when the time comes to leave. Access difficult and isolated, as well as the lack of service make sure the site remains wild and that's part of its charm despite some drawbacks. Is to be prepared and bring what you need for the day. Don't forget your sunscreen, because some pieces of skin may suffer. Also bring a bag to bring your waste and keep the beach clean.

  • A stunning sandy beach nestled between some rock cliffs. A very shot hike over from Big Beach. Worth the trek. Every sunday there is a sunset drum circle which attracts more of a party scene, and offe...  more »
  • Spectacular beach for like-minded and free spirited nudists! Clean. Great waves to nude body surf. No gawkers since it's clearly a nude beach. GO!

  • Great place to visit. park at lot one big beach. (search and Google Big Beach for directions) Walk to the far right end of big beach and go up and over the rocks. ( it's not a hard climb) clothing optional, lots of people with suits still on. the surf is much less here then at big beach. No lifeguards on this Beach.
  • This was a lovely nude beach and we greatly enjoyed it. It is a little difficult to get to since you have to walk up a rocky path to it. It is quite private. The people there varied in their nudity though most were in fact nude. The sand is fine and the water very clear. This was a great experience.
  • Optional clothes beach next to Big beach. Access walking through some rock. Great sunset view too!
  • Wonderful little beach with a really relaxed atmosphere - proven by the nudity. Unfortunately, it was a bit overcast when we went, but still a great little beach. Definitely head here on a Sunday for the sun-dance...
  • Amazing beach, friendly people. First day on Maui and we went for the Sunday Sunset. As the sun set and the drummers drummed, a humpback whale breached in the distance. Pretty magical place :-)
